Before I launched this site, which is basicly not much more than a blog, I had been blogging on Wordpress.com for a little while and before that I even blogged on Blogger for an even shorter while and then, after all that time I decided to register a domain name and continue from there.
Unfortunatly, the host for my domain name and webspace wasn’t very reliable. They had extremely low prices for their services, but the quality of their service was really poor. They promised 99.9% uptime, but they suffered from so much downtime that they could never keep up with that promise. Also their security was really poor and that became very obvious when one single smalltime hacker compromised their security and screwed up every single site they hosted and when people posted something about that incident on their support forum they got banned and their posts got deleted. Just in case anyone would be interested to check out that hosting company, it’s called E-Dentify.

I’m keeping both of my wordpress.com and blogger.com blogs online for the purpose of archiving, so I don’t need to copy and repost all that stuff here. Importing from either Blogger or Wordpress doesn’t work very good.

Blogger

I started a blogger blog on december 31st, 2005, which isn’t even a year ago. I posted quite regularly, but didn’t really like the way it worked. Blogger offers very high customizability, but the way it handles image uploading isn’t very convenient.
After a while I found Atariboy’s blog which is pretty much vacant these days, mostly because of his other endeavors and then I decided to go and check Wordpress.com myself.

So on Januari 25, 2006 I kicked blogger and opened a Wordpress.com blog. Wordpress.com much more fitted my needs in the way of handling images. It doesn’t offer much customizability though. You have only very little control over what your blog looks like. You can add pages that aren’t posts, which isn’t possible on blogger, you can choose themes and you can choose which sidebar widgets should be displayed on the chosen theme, but that is as far as customizability goes.
I haven’t been posting a lot there recently and I wanted more control over the site itself, so I decided to register a domain and run my own wordpress setup.

This is/was the site that was hosted by E-Dentify since the 2nd of October 2006. I’m not entirely sure for how long it’ll still be online, but surely not for very long as I’m not paying the next bill so it’ll be removed sometime soon.

This is the latest incarnation of my blog. As of the 14th of June 2007 It’s hosted at Mijndomein.nl and all seems to be working really well untill now. They have a very fast registration system and a very fast add-on system as well. You want a database? Make a few clicks and you get one.

As of yesterday (8-2-2008) I have a new header image and as of today I have hotlink protection, but that’s it with the changes. Here’s a screenshot with the new headers image.

As you can also see I no longer use Opera as my browser, it’s firefox now. Before I used Opera I also used Firefox, but back then it pretty much sucked monkey balls, but now it’s good even though I’d like to see some changes. Maybe in version 3.0. Besides the browser change I also use Windows Vista now instead of XP, quite the improvement really, if your PC can pull it off.

As of now (9-3-2009) there is a new theme on my Wordpress blog and I’m back to using Opera. I really dislike Firefox 3 and Google Chrome doesn’t even work on my current Windows 7 Beta installation. But Opera is good.
