Hop up time for the F103LM

A Tamiya F103LM is awesome, but with a bunch of hop up options it gets even better. So here we go.

At the front the stock suspension has been completely replaced by a F1 style suspension system, but that wasn’t enough. I replaced the stock caster block that came with the suspension set with a 3Racing aluminum adjustable caster block to be able to, well, adjust the caster of the front suspension.

In the back I have replaced the stock power pod with a 3Racing aluminum heat sink power pod with a fan. The funny thing was that this version was a few $$$ cheaper than the version without the fan. So if the fan is either completely useless or even annoying I’ll just remove it later. This power pod simply looks ten times better than the stock one and this one has the possibility to adjust the ride height in the rear. The only downside to this was that the power pod did not come with the required height spacers, bearings and the axle spacer for the left wheel. This spacer is required to secure the axle in place with a power pod like this. The stock one didn’t need this, because is was quite a bit wider on the left. The other changes are the spur gear. I replaced the stock module 0.6 with a module 0.4 and also swapped out the pinion gear. The stock plastic differential has been completely replaced by a 3Racing aluminum differential for looks and strength.

And last, but not least, the center damper has been replaced by a 3Racing adjustable aluminum damper. The damper that came mounted on the car was not stock, but it was broken and actually much to long to properly work in the first place, so that had to be replaced by something decent. This is the same damper as I have on my F103GT and that works really well.

That’s it for now… The car still has a brushed motor and ESC… Not sure if gusta.
